We are the Central Valley's premiere training theatre and the YES! Kids represent the best of all our training. YES! Kids are recruited from a varied pool of talent to assemble the most unique blend of Student Artists possible. These students are outstanding candidates who possess a strong interest in performing or technical theater, as well as, a high academic standard. With YES!, we have created what we believe to be the most progressive, in-depth theatre arts curriculum. Shine! Artistic Director, tony sanders (Humanities Lead for Big Picture Elementary) and Jenny Myers serve as our Lead Teachers.

The curriculum includes:

  • Voice

  • Acting Method

  • Improv

  • Contemporary Dance

  • Broadway Jazz

  • Tap

  • Vocal Technique

  • Speech

  • Set Design

  • Lighting Design

  • Stage Management

  • House Management

  • Sound Design

Student Candidates must...

  • be aged 8 -17y.o.

  • have a 3.5-grade point average (or a B average)

  • have a strong performance or technical background

  • present a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or director (If you are a student at Big Picture Educational Academy or have participated in a Shine! production within the last three years, you may forgo this requirement.)

Best of all, every YES! Kid is granted with a full scholarship. There is no tuition for this program. It is a fundamental tenet of Shine! that no student demonstrating a desire to learn this craft ever be prevented from doing so because of financial concerns. This training program is fully funded through ticket sales, tax-deductible donations, and gifts-in-kind. Because of the enormity of this scholarship, we expect our members to perform at the highest school, on stage and off.

Expectations :

Ensemble members agree to...

  • Commit to full 9 month program

  • Attend weekly training sessions

  • Maintain a 90% attendance record to YES! sessions
